Cristelle Rodriguez, DDS
Dr. Cristelle Rodriguez has been setting the highest standard of excellence in pediatric dentistry since 1989. “Dr. Cris,” as she is known to her patients, is a pediatric dental specialist. Her passion for children’s dentistry is reflected through her friendly, reassuring personality, as well as her skillful talent in making patients feel at ease.
Born in Queens, NY, and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Rodriguez received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1989. She completed her post-doctorate residency training at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, where she received a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rodriguez also graduated from the DECOD Program (Dental Education in Care of Persons with Disabilities) from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry.
Dr. Rodriguez is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Cris has always maintained a commitment to “giving back” and as a volunteer has provided much needed dental care to underprivileged children and their families throughout several countries. She genuinely treats every child as if they were her own and continues to help children and adults in her Virginia community.

Paula L. Coates, DDS., MS
Dr. Paula L. Coates was born in Washington, D.C. and reared in Riverdale, MD (Prince George’s County). She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Anthropology & Anatomy from Duke University. In May of 2000, her dream of becoming a dentist became a reality when she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry (Nashville, TN). Pursuing her love of working with children, Dr. Coates attended the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry where she received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 2002. While attending her residency program, she began work on her Master’s of Science degree which was completed in 2003. After completion her training, Dr. Coates served in the positions of Assistant Professor at both The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and Meharry Medical College. Prior to relocating to Northern Virginia, Dr. Coates had the opportunity of providing excellent oral health care to the children of Illinois, Georgia, and Tennessee.
In 2007, Dr. Coates was accepted into the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Leadership Institute II and completed the program in 2009. In March of 2008, Dr. Coates was awarded her Diplomate (Board Certified) status with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. In 2014, Dr. Coates was selected to be a recipient of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry/HSHC’s Master Clinician Scholarship.
In her spare time, Dr. Coates volunteers many hours with organized dental/health and community service organizations. She has served as Chairman of the Council of Membership and Membership Services and is a member of the Committee on Inter-professional Relations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Most recently, Dr. Paula L. Coates was elected as an At-Large Trustee for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (2016-2019). She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the National Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Coates is a member of The Meharry National Alumni Association, Duke Alumni Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated. Her passions include mentoring youth and future dentists, reading, dancing, watching/participating in sports activities, the performing arts, arts and crafts, shopping and traveling.
